Quilters Treasurer
- Bobbie & Joel Bergquist – Rindge, New Hampshire
Bobbie & Joel Bergquist are
husband & wife quilt makers, manufacture & educators, who strives to keep things
simple quick and fun. Bobbie was the inspiration for Quilters Treasure whose
goal is to give quilters an artist pallet. Bobbie wanted to make a stained
glass quilt and found nothing available to meet this need. Joel created fabric
which has inspired her & many other quilters to expand their creativity.
Among the new and revised
techniques they have developed include “Stained Glass Quilts”; “Appliqué for
Cheaters”; “Quilt-As-You-Go”; “Marbling on Fabric”; “New Ways to Use Tsukineko
Inks”; “Silk Screening with Tsukineko Inks” & their latest “Instant Stained
Glass”. Classroom permitting they also offers class “Marbling with Jacquard
Paints’ &“Painting on Silk & Cotton with Rocco Paints” Many of their classes
offer a bonus, “How to make perfect mitered corners on bindings”.
They have taught in 39 states
including Hawaii, and conducts workshops, seminars & lectures at retreats, quilt
shows, guilds & shops. They have been fortunate to teach at Road To California,
Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival, Hampton, VA & Quilt Fest of New Jersey, Somerset
NJ, Quilters Heritage Celebration, Lancaster, PA, Denver National Quilt
Festival, Denver, CO & Pacific International Quilt Festival, Santa Clara, CA; &
at the Minnesota Quilters Annual Show & Conference, a teacher & featured
speaker at La Roche College Quilt Show, Pittsburg, PA & at the New Berlin Quilt
Show, New Berlin, NY
Their son Brian,, joined them,
providing some Hand Painted Marble fabric Within the first year of business they
that saw the need for Quilters Treasure to produce their own line of a
commercial print of this uniquely beautiful fabric, making larger cuts & lower
prices available for commercial and hand painted fabric. Their fabric is now
available in 54 delicious colors.
As a family they appeared in
four segments of Quilt Centrals’ series, “A Family in Quilting” & “Men in
Quilting”, demonstrating Joel’s unique technique of Hand Painting Marble Fabric
for the family based business, They also shared with viewers the techniques of
how to make a stained glass butterfly, a method that reduces sewing by more than
50%. Brian’s quilt “Daniel in the Lion’s Den” traveled the country in 2006-7
with “Men of Biblical Proportion”
They have successfully
sponsored a mentor program bringing new designers into the quilting world &
sponsor their yearly “Quilters Treasure Challenge”.
Bobbie’s physical & medical
limitations meant she had to simplifying techniques. What was a necessary
modification for one made quilting easier and less stressful for all. They now
brings these same talents into the quilting world modify popular traditional
quilting methods, easy to perform. Traveling in their motor home they are
living the dream of seeing the USA and meeting quilters from all over the
world. Their constant exposure to about 35 Quilt Shows each year, helps them
gain insight into the traditional & innovative trends & keeps their classes &
products on the cutting edge of quilting.

Ten years ago, Dawn Wenner laid eyes on her first
embroidery machine. She decided this piece of equipment, along with her love for
computers, was going to be her way back home. She had an 18 month old child that
she had waited her whole life for but she was never home to enjoy him. Now, Dawn
and her husband, Larry, run an Internet designs and home embroidery supply store
featuring Swarovski Crystal Elements® from their home in Wilmington, NC. Except
for the time she travels to retreats and conventions teaching and introducing
new products, Dawn is home seeing her son Casey off to school and greeting him
when he gets home.
Dawn has 24 years of experience educating technical and
management skills to students who are thirsty for knowledge. Using this
experience, she now teaches others how to embellish and incorporate Swarovski
crystals, Angelina and a variety of other items like embroidery, quilts and
anything that stays still long enough to be embellished.

Med Welch:
I am the mother of a beautiful grown daughter, Erin, and the
grandmother of a terrific granddaughter, Sydney.
When my little
granddaughter, Sydney, said, "Gram'a is there a doll that's easier to play with
than Barbie
®?",
the American Girl
® doll
became part of our family and I was off and running.
After making many, many things
for this doll, my good friend, Winona, suggested that I make doll clothes
patterns and sell them. Good idea, Nona, here they are.
One may make these patterns for resale on a small scale if credit
is given to me, Med Welch of Doll Clothes Patterns by Med, as designer. Patterns
are copyrighted and may not be copied and sold in any fashion under penalty of
the law.
I conduct seminars on how to construct these doll clothes with
designer details. I have an English Doll Shoppe as the background for the
presentation and the whole thing is JUST TOO FUN!
You can find my patterns, shoes, and very soon, hopefully, my
book, on my website:

Pam Damour:
I do business as “The
Decorating Diva”
and have been in business since 1981.When I started my Interior
design business “Damour Designs”, I found a way to bridge my
passions for design, sewing and power tools. Over the years, I began
teaching my trade, first at industry window covering expos, and then
to consumers. My goal is to teach industry standards to consumers,
and to raise the bar, in ways that the decorating industry
manufactures soft furnishings. I teach nationally and
internationally, and one of my goals is to teach in every U.S.
state. My product line of DVDs, notions, and templates offer
professional results in easy to understand formats. Join me by way
of DVD, or at one of my workshops and see how easy custom sewing for
the home can be!

Pattie Otto:
We are a small, personalized pattern company inspired
by ready-to-wear apparel from designer and specialty shops.
Great Copy Patterns are current, classic in design and emphasize
easy sewing techniques. All of our patterns is multi-sized from
ex-small to ex-large. We also include a "check your size" box to
help determine size selection. Most patterns have the option to be
cut but some need to be traced. We pride ourselves on easy to
understand instructions that accompany each pattern
We got our start in 1986 when Ruthann Spiegelhoff, the original
owner, designed a complete line of "Units" patterns. Following the
success of "Units", Ruthann began copying ready-to-wear designs from
upscale boutiques and specialty stores.
She continued designing patterns and in 1994 published her first
book, "Polarfleece Pizzazz" and two years later, "More Polarfleece
Pizzazz." Both are best sellers for outerwear and accessory design,
with nearly 100,000 in print.
Ruthann retired in 2000 selling the store and pattern company.
Great Copy Patterns became available again and was purchased in
October 2004 by Pattie Otto, who had worked for the Spiegelhoff's
since 1986. She continues the line by selecting classic styles with
a great fit that are quick and easy to sew using ready-to-wear
shortcuts.
Drawing from a lifetime of sewing, Pattie started an alterations
business in 1982 but soon realized a passion for teaching others to
sew. She has taught extensively over the years, with her favorite
classes being machine embroidery, heirloom work, silk ribbon
embroidery by machine, serger techniques, swim & action wear, and
fitting seminars. Pattie has also designed and coordinated
production for a small swimwear manufacturer.
Currently she is author and designer for Embroidery Club which meets
bi-monthly in southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. She also
operates Embroidery Club by Mail - a corresponding bi-monthly
publication. Both clubs feature her original embroidery designs.
Her enthusiasm for fabric, texture, pattern design and construction
is evident in all aspects of her sewing. You will be seeing the
impact of this enthusiasm if you visit our site on a regular basis.
After rather sporadic introductions of new patterns during the past
few years, the Great Copy Patterns line will now be expanding
throughout the year to help you keep looking your best.
Pattie is a life-long resident of southeastern Wisconsin. She lives
in the country with her husband and business partner, Rick, and is
the mother of four children.

Peggy Severt
I've been sewing
since 3rd grade - and have been drawing ever since I can remember. I
spent a semester at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where I
discovered I have a talent for design - but not realistic drawings.
So I headed home to Ohio. I've worked in various positions - layout
artist, photo lab tech, and creating my own crafts to sell at area
craft fairs. I've raised a family - a son and 2 daughters. I had to
wait a long time for sewing machines and computers to get together,
but they finally did. I started with a Viking Rose, creating
applique designs on denim shirts to sell at my craft fairs. Then I
decided maybe others might like to stitch my designs on their
projects. So Pegboard Crafts began the transformation from crafts to
embroidery designs. I specialize in applique designs. I have
recently begun sharing my knowledge of the wonderful embroidery
program, Embird. I have the privilege to teach classes at the AEC in
Marietta, GA and the IEC in Indiana. I also teach classes in
Columbus, Ohio from time to time. And I also offer 1 or 2 day
seminars in other areas. I love working with newbies - it so so
great to see the lights come on and know they are going to have as
much fun with embroidery as I do. I also enjoy spending time with my
two adorable grandchildren, Jonathan and Alexandra.

Mariette House
A native of Rhode
Island, Mariette started sewing when ten years old. In her early
years, her sewing education consisted of learning at the side of her
mother and then classes in junior high. After her marriage and move
to Lincoln, Nebraska, her sewing took off. With classes in the
Bishop Method of Clothing Construction taught through the University
of Nebraska and the adult education department of the City of
Lincoln, Mariette continued her sewing education. She studied under
several teachers but her mentor is the now-retired teacher, trainer,
and author Marie Kehr. She also studied under the late teacher,
lecturer, and author Kitty Rotruck. Mariette participated in
classes and workshops for years until a professional transfer moved
her and her family away from Lincoln.
Mariette’s
association with Wild Ginger pattern drafting software started in
February 2004 when she purchased a program at a seminar. Having
researched several computer aided pattern drafting programs for the
home sewer, she found the Wild Ginger programs the most economical
and user friendly. After using the program for a year, she
attended a workshop in Nashville, Tennessee which culminated in her
becoming a Certified Educator for Wild Ginger.
Mariette holds
Pattern Master user group meetings every two months in Fort Branch,
Indiana. She is also available for Pattern Master group seminars
and classes.
